Sharon Obara Miss World Kenya 2021

Message from Sharon Obara (Ms World Kenya 2021)

The Miss World Kenya finals held on 28th August 2021 remains profound to me. It is not only because I was crowned the winner, but it also serves as a culmination of resilience, patience, and hard work. This was my second attempt at the crown after my maiden attempt in 2019 and it felt nothing short of immaculate!

I remember how intense the entire process was, but that period helped to elevate my personality, thought process, and opened me up to the endless possibilities that the platform provided. My life transformed beautifully on the night I was crowned, and I continue to embrace this new chapter of my life.

Travelling to Puerto Rico was my first solo international trip and the memories created will forever be etched in my mind. During the competition I made it a point to take part in all the competition categories and I am incredibly happy to have placed well in all of them. The highlight was emerging as one of the six winners of the Beauty with a Purpose project, which is at the heart of the Miss World Organization. My project was focused on Destigmatizing access to Mental Healthcare in Kenya, and I partnered with Chiromo Hospital Group, the leading private psychiatric service provider in Sub Sahara Africa. The project was also flagged off by our President H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta.

I have also continued working with neuro-diverse children who are more susceptible to mental health issues and later got to run projects with Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital. I intend to continue with the projects I have started even after my reign as I am not only passionate about them, but they have become an integral part of me.

I remain grateful to this platform as I have grown exponentially and holistically. I have managed to use my voice to rally for change and impact lives as well as mentor the young generation.

Miss World Kenya is truly a platform that has built an irrefutable legacy of sustainable transformation in Kenya.
To the upcoming models and those auditioning for this year’s Miss World Pageant, I urge you to believe in yourself and the beauty of your dreams. May this be an opportunity of growth for you regardless of the outcome.

To the winner, you will have the privilege of joining a long line of exceptional women who have left a remarkable legacy in their time in service to the crown
