A REIGN OF HOPE: MY FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER

I knew that real impact required more than just words and online activism. It necessitated tangible action and a hands-on approach.

Becoming Miss World Kenya 2022/23 was the realization of a dream, but it was also the beginning of a profound journey—one driven by a deep-seated commitment to make a difference. My Beauty with a Purpose project, “Save a Life,” emerged from a desire to address the pressing issue of hunger in Kenya in a meaningful and sustainable way.

From the outset, I knew that raising awareness alone wouldn’t suffice; I needed to be actively involved in the grassroots efforts to alleviate suffering and enact lasting change. Thus, the Save a Life Campaign was born—a rallying cry for unity and support from all corners of society.

Utilizing platforms like social media, mainstream media, and public events, I amplified our message and garnered public support. The response was overwhelming, as people from all walks of life joined the cause, eager to lend a helping hand.

But I knew that real impact required more than just words and online activism. It necessitated tangible action and a hands-on approach. I personally led food distribution efforts, reaching out to over 30 families in the Kibera Slum—the largest slum in Africa. Witnessing the gratitude and hope in their eyes fueled my determination to do more.

My involvement in the nationwide resources mobilization initiative, “Wakenya Tulindane,” further solidified my commitment to the cause. Together with fellow advocates, we worked tirelessly to ensure that no one in our country would go hungry. From distributing food items to providing sanitary packages, every effort was a step towards a brighter, more equitable future.

But my mission extended beyond addressing immediate needs; it also encompassed environmental conservation and holistic community development. Leading the National tree planting day with the Rotaract Club at Kileleshwa Primary School was a testament to my belief in the interconnectedness of environmental sustainability and human well-being.

Among the most rewarding moments of my journey were the visits to places like the MaryFaith Children’s Home in Kawangware and the Kirigiti Approved School. Seeing the smiles on the faces of children as we delivered food and essential supplies filled my heart with joy. It reminded me that our actions, no matter how small, have the power to make a profound impact on the lives of others.

As I reflect on my time as Miss World Kenya, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve and inspire. It has been a journey of growth, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the principles of beauty with a purpose. And while my reign may come to an end, my commitment to creating positive change will endure for a lifetime. Together, we can build a future where no one goes hungry, where every child has the opportunity to thrive, and where compassion reigns supreme. I am steadfast in mobilizing resources and this will ensure that together the project remains sustainably.
