TRIUMPHING AGAINST ODDS: My Story of Miss World Kenya Triumph
For me, being crowned Miss World Kenya is not just about wearing a crown—it’s about embodying the values of compassion, empathy, and service to others. It’s about using my voice to advocate for the causes that matter most to me, and in this case, alleviating hunger.
The exhilaration of winning the crown at the Two Rivers Mall on December 10, 2022, is a feeling I’ll never forget. After two years of dedication, hard work, and resilience, I, Chantou Kwamboka, was finally crowned Miss World Kenya 2022/23 and to top it all, this was done by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary, Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Ababu Namwamba who was the chief guest at the crowning. The journey to this moment was nothing short of incredible, filled with ups and downs, but ultimately leading to this triumphant victory.
Being crowned onstage amidst the cheers of the audience was a moment of pure joy and validation. It marked the culmination of years of preparation and determination. But this victory wasn’t just about me—it was a testament to the unwavering support of my family, friends, and mentors who stood by me every step of the way.
My journey to the crown began two years ago when I first competed in the Miss World Kenya pageant. Though I fell short and was named the 1st Runner Up, I refused to let that setback define me. Instead, I channeled my disappointment into motivation, vowing to return stronger and more determined than ever before.
Over the past two years, I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to preparing for this moment. From rigorous training sessions to countless hours of community service, I left no stone unturned in my pursuit of the crown. Every setback and every challenge only fueled my determination to succeed.
But winning the crown was just the beginning of my journey. As Miss World Kenya, I am committed to using my platform to make a positive impact in the lives of others. The core tenet of the Miss World pageant, “Beauty With A Purpose,” resonates deeply with me, as it emphasizes using beauty as a platform for change.
For me, being crowned Miss World Kenya is not just about wearing a crown—it’s about embodying the values of compassion, empathy, and service to others. It’s about using my voice to advocate for the causes that matter most to me, and in this case, alleviating hunger.
I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to represent Kenya on the international stage. I am excited to carry on the legacy of past Miss World Kenya winners and to make my country proud. With the love and support of my fellow Kenyans, I am confident that together, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
