On Saturday, Kenyan Model Chantou Kwamboka was crowned Miss World Kenya for the year 2022/23.
Following the win, Kwamboka took home Sh250, 000 and Sh500, 000 worth grooming services. Before the win, she was the 1st Runner Up in the 2021 Miss World Kenya.
She has taken over the crown from the immediate former Miss World Kenya Sharon Obara. The Gala for Miss World Kenya was hosted by Kiss FM presenter Oga Obinna and KTN’s Claudia Naisabwa at the Two Rivers Mall, Nairobi.
The gala for the 2022 Miss World Kenya was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts Ababu Namwamba as the chief guest.
This year 17 women made it to the finals of Miss World Kenya 2022.
More than 1,000 women from all over the country applied for the competition hoping to replace the outgoing Miss World Kenya Sharon Obara.
Last year, Obara walked away with Sh250,000 after beating 15 other contestants to take over the crown from Maria Wavinya, the 2019 Miss World Kenya.
Chanton Kwamboka, who finished as the first runner’s up, was awarded Sh150,000 while the second runner up Mary Kwamboka pocketed Sh70,000. Both received gift hampers from various sponsors.
Miss World Kenya is celebrating 50 years of its existence in Kenya this year. The prestigious pageant is franchised by Ashleys Kenya Limited.
