Finali Galaiya is Miss World Kenya 2018
Finali Galaiya was crowned Miss World Kenya. The event was held at the Westlands Mall rooftop on the 8th of September 2018 and this saw Finali take over from Magline Jeruto who was the 2017 crown bearer.
Finali was also Miss India Worldwide Kenya 2016. Finali Galaiya will now head off to China for Miss World 2018. The pageant creates an opportunity to the winner to represent Kenya at the annual Miss World International event.
“I honestly did not see this coming, my legs were shaking the whole time. I am happy to be the newly crowned queen and hope that my Beauty with a Purpose Project, which is widow cleansing, will receive the support it deserves,” said the newly crowned beauty queen, who is also the Miss India Kenya 2016. Her widow cleansing project seeks to eradicate the practice of widow inheritance among Kenyan communities.
Only two Kenyan ladies have made it to the top five. Evelyn Njambi Thumbi in 2016 and Magline Jeruto in 2017. The event franchise holder is Terry Mungai under the Ashleys Beauty company.
More than 26 contestants competed for the coveted title which came with a ticket to the global Miss World beauty pageant. Among those who were in attendance were Culture Permanent Secretary Josephta Mukobe, Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris, Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong’are Okong’o, Embakasi MP Babu Owino, and Janet Mulei who was the first winner of the award after its inception in 2003.
